Sculptra Aesthetic

Sculptra Aesthetic at Lipogenex Anti-Aging Center in North Scottsdale

Increase your collagen production and replace your lost volume with one of our most favorable and versatile injectable treatments, Sculptra Aesthetic. Dr Karampahtsis at Lipogenex in N. Scottsdale, has been injecting Sculptra Aesthetic to correct lines, wrinkles and loss of volume in many different parts of the body.

What is Sculptra Aesthetic?

Sculptra Aesthetic is a unique injectable filler. Even though it belongs in the category of fillers it is not a gel like most fillers in the market. It is more like particles suspended in water. Those particles of Sculptra are called poly-L-lactic acid or PLLA in short. Sculptra is also called a bio-stimulator because it stimulates the production and regeneration of your own natural collagen.

Common areas treated with Sculptra Aesthetic injections?

The most common area of injection with Sculptra is the face. More specifically, the product stimulates your own collagen production and helps correct shallow or medium deep wrinkles and folds such as the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, smile lines, chin wrinkles and loss of volume on the cheeks. Sculptra Aesthetic cannot be injected into the lips or under the eyes.

Sculptra Aesthetic for body areas, other than the face?

Even though Sculptra Aesthetic injection was originally developed to replace lost volume and repair lines and wrinkles on the face, due to its capability to produce collagen in other areas of the body physicians and trained injectors started using it in other parts of the body. The most common areas that Sculptra Aesthetic is being injected in with amazing results are:

  • The Décolleté, to improve texture and reduce lines and wrinkles
  • The arms, to improve the appearance of crepey skin and restore collagen
  • The buttocks, for a natural looking “liquid butt lift” or for smoothing and enhancement or augmentation of the area
  • The thighs, to reduce and “smooth out” the dimples of cellulite
  • Above the knee, to reduce the appearance of sagging skin

What are the benefits of getting Sculptra Injections?

The benefits of Sculptra Aesthetic injections are many. The most common one is the appearance of Natural Looking results due to the production of your own collagen. The lines and wrinkles slowly start disappearing and the lost volume in the treated area slowly returns to previous levels. The treated area looks more youthful and healthier looking. The results can last 2 years according to the FDA study that was performed, but they could last longer since the study was ended in 25 months and people were still happy with their results.

Are you a good candidate for treatment with Sculptra?

If you are over the age of 30 with significant volume loss or appearance of lines an wrinkles you are probably a good candidate for treatment with Sculptra Aesthetic. There is usually no risk of allergic reaction to the treatment unless you have any previous known allergies to any suture material or other known allergies that you need to discuss with your treating physician prior to your injection. If you have any active skin infection or if you are prone to keloid scars discuss that in your consultation prior to any injections.

What does the treatment with Sculptra feel like?

At Lipogenex Anti-Aging center we believe in “the less pain, the better”. The injections are virtually painless. A numbing cream is placed on the area to be treated that reduces the sensation of any pain caused by the needle during the injection. In most parts of the body, the injections are very tolerable, and most people do not feel any discomfort. Generally speaking, depending on the skills of the injector, the procedure can be virtually painless.

What is the recovery time after injections with Sculptra?

There is truly no “downtime” after the treatment. You can return to your daily activities immediately. As with any injectable treatment some swelling, bruising and tenderness can occur after the injection which will resolve within the following days. It is recommended to avoid blood thinners prior to the treatment for 24-48 hours if possible. Things to avoid are Aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E and alcohol to minimize the possibility of bruising. After the treatment with Sculptra Aesthetic, you are advised to massage the treated area for a better distribution of the PLLA particles and a more even production of new collagen.

How many treatments of Sculptra do I need?
Depending on the condition of the area that is treated, will determine the number of treatments needed. If you have a lot of loss of volume and deep folds and wrinkles, you will need more than one treatment. Follow up treatments are usually scheduled 3-4 weeks apart or longer. Most people need 2 treatments but some people might need 4-6 treatments to achieve their desired outcome.

Is Sculptra Aesthetic a permanent filler or treatment?

Even though the results will be gradual and can last for years, the treatment is not considered a permanent filler. Over time the body will gradually absorb and metabolize the PLLA particles in Sculptra Aesthetic.

How quickly will I see results after the injection with Sculptra?

The results are gradual since Sculptra Aesthetic injection is stimulating your own collagen production. You don’t notice an immediate volume change the same way you see with other gel fillers such as hyaluronic acid fillers. You must be patient and let your body produce collagen in the injected area. Depending on how much of a volume loss you have experienced and how much product was injected in the treated area, you might start noticing results after 6-8 weeks and continued improvement up to 6 months. The results can last two years according to the FDA study that was performed on the product that was terminated in 25 months.

What is the cost of Sulptra Injections?

Depending on the loss of volume in the treated area, or the depth of the lines and folds you have, the amount of product that needs to be injected will vary, as well as the number of treatments. For example, treating the Décolleté requires less product than treating the thighs. The average cost can range anywhere from a few hundred dollars, same as most fillers, to a few thousand dollars and usually most places give a volume discount. The more product you need to achieve your desired outcome, the more discount you receive.
